Raspberry PI has launched PICO-W

Raspberry PI has recently launched PICO-W. The MCU on this RP2040 and WLAN chip is CYW43439

CYW43439 is one of my favorite WLAN chips for IoT Connectivity. There is a well documented open source driver for it available at github-whd

This board supports micro-python, but uses a close source libcyw43 library. I would be much more excited about using micro-python on this board , if libcyw43 were open sourced.

Where can I buy

There are various resellers. Some of them are listed below. As I am writing this on Jul 2, 2022, the $6/$7 board is sold out at all places.

PiMicroni
PiHut-PicoW
Adafuit-PicoW

But there are some kits, which are listed below, are available for a higher price.

Canary-PicoW
Inventor-2040-w

I have ordered the Inventor-2040-w and looking forward to playing with it.

At Packet Path we have ported WHD to various platforms. Check out more at https://www.packetp.com/service-page.html#wwd-whd

Correction from prior version: The WLAN chip is CYW43439. The previous version of this post said it was CYW4339

Version: V2
